Almere chose Aura Long Life to reduce maintenance

Almere is home to more than 180,000 people, which makes it the Netherlands’ seventh biggest city. In 2007 new streetlight fittings were placed along the avenues and Municipality of Almere installed Aura Light’s high-pressure sodium lamps, Aura Sodinette Long Life.

Mr Geurt Dijkstra is responsible at the municipality of Almere for the management and installation of public lighting and traffic lights and explains why they chose Aura Long Life:

”Many of our residents originate from Amsterdam, or have a work, recreation or social link with the city. As a result of that, there is a heavy flow of traffic between the two cities. That makes the regional access roads the city’s most important road axes. By choosing Aura Long Life we avoid two of the three lamp changes, which also reduces the number of hydraulic platform operations on the road. It will go without saying that obstructions on these roads lead to a lot of traffic congestion. Also, breakdowns are kept to a minimum and the lamps have a very high lighting yield. Aura Light is the specialist in Long Life lighting and covers the extremely long life-span and defects with a guarantee. That made the choice fairly simple.”
